On Thursday, November 11, Our Lady of Grace (OLG) students and staff hosted its inaugural Veterans' Day service. This event took place in the gymnasium at OLG and was organized by the Home and School Association and Student Council.
OLG was pleased to welcome nearly 25 veterans to the service, invited by students, family and friends. The Penndel Fire Department greeted the veterans with a flag displayed in OLG’s parking lot as they arrived. The guests of honor joined us for fellowship, snacks, and a prayer service to bless the veterans led by Monsignor Prior. Following the prayer, there was a small reception where the Penndel Post Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) presented OLG’s colors.
Guests were fortunate to hear remarks from Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick and State Representative Tina Davis. At the service, Fitzpatrick presented OLG with a flag flown over the United States Capitol. The flag is a reminder that we honor those who have courageously served in our Armed Forces.
After the prayer service, veterans were invited to visit the classrooms at OLG where the students had the opportunity to say thank you to them.
