The award allows OLG to place a concentrated effort on improving security and communication efforts with both students, staff, and guardians. This grant will allow the school's leadership to communicate throughout campus effectively and efficiently; whether it's in the event of an emergency or an important daily announcement.
“We are delighted to have been able to receive this grant from the state. School safety is always a top priority. Communication is key in any high stakes situation and can quite literally be the difference between life and tragedy. For OLG, a new school communication system is paramount,” said Principal Eric Harper. “OLG has continued to make security, safety, and communication improvements over the last few years. This grant can provide students, staff and visitors with the knowledge and peace of mind that OLG is and continues to be a safe and secure school. The advancements made to the school with this grant will continue to protect our students and staff for many years to come,” added Harper.
The School Safety and Security Grants Program was created by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 2018 to provide schools under the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania with opportunities to become safer for students, staff, and visitors. Funding will allow the school to replace its current PA System. This award marks the second time that Our Lady of Grace was awarded the School Safety and Security grant from the Commonwealth.
