We are honored to present our fifth set of Students of Grace awards! This fifth trait is a beautiful one: finding God in all things.
The concept of Finding God in All Things was gifted to us through the spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola, a sixteenth century saint. Ignatius was not the intellectual like Thomas Aquinas, not martyred for the Faith like his best friend, Francis Xavier, or the popular preacher like Francis of Assisi. But, his spirituality is a great gift to the Church.
In finding God in all things, we discover sacred moments in everyday life — grace-filled opportunities to encounter God in nature, our relationships, our academic pursuits, our own stories, and in the stories of those around us. We find God in the friend who asks for help studying, in the delight in achieving a good grade after studying hard, in saying hi to a teacher first thing on Monday morning. God is not found just in prayer, or in Mass, or in the Sacraments. And we find God wherever we are, not just in people at Church. We find Him in the school office, in the gym, on the playground. God is in everyone and everything and everywhere and we should delight in this! All of our teachers were paying attention to students who were living out our call to find God in all things.

In the first grade classroom, Adam is always spreading God’s love to everyone. Adam looks for the positive in all people and things.

Addisyn always finds the good in all things. Her radiant smile and happy personality allow the goodness of God to shine through to others.

6th: Gianna Roybal
Gianna finds the good qualities in her classmates. She is a very kind, understanding, and loving person just like Jesus.
7th: Ryan Clark

8th: Chase Esposito
Just like St. Ignatius, we are challenged with difficult times and by the Grace of God, we are given the change to rise above these challenges. Chase follows the path of St. Ignatius by finding the light, the little reminders that God is with us during these struggles. His willingness to press forward is evident by his willingness to demonstrate his awareness that God is with him in all things.
Teacher: Mrs. Scanlon
This particular teacher purposely tries to find the good in her students. She sees the world as sacramental, that everything can teach us about the beauty of God. She goes out of her way to share shout-outs with me, and she always finds praise for her students. Thanks for seeing the beauty at OLG, Mrs. Scanlon.
In addition to being our teacher of the month, we have some more recognition for Mrs. Scanlon. Working in Catholic schools is a labor of love. We do it because we love our students. We love the joy of teaching a student about past participles, we love the joy of guiding a student discover a new novel, we love the joy of seeing our students succeed. And for twenty-five years, Mrs. Scanlon has served students in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Please join me in thanking and congratulating for twenty-five years of services to the students of Philadelphia!
