What class do you teach?
I teach 4th Grade!
What is your favorite thing to do outside of the classroom?
My favorite things to do are ski, cook, and go shopping.
What is something students would be surprised to learn about you?
Something the students would be surprised to learn about me is I'm an only child.
What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is expressing my beliefs and values about myself as a teacher. I value the classroom environment. A teacher-student relationship is essential. I believe the most important and first thing to establish in a classroom is trust. Trust will go a long way and will build a positive influence on the student's success. Trust will not happen unless it is in a supportive environment.
My goal as a teacher is to assist each student in their learning styles. I want to incorporate all learning styles so it can target each student's learning needs. I want each student to feel successful in the classroom, and I want to help my students achieve that. The Theory of Multiple Intelligence by Howard Gardner connects to this idea of different learning styles through eight various bits of intelligence. All students learn in different ways showing their strengths in the classroom; I consider this essential for learning goals and achievement.
What is one thing a teacher said or did that resonated with you?
I really looked up to my high school math teacher, Mr. Reigner. I was lucky enough to have him every year for math during my four years in high school. I enjoyed how patient he was when teaching and always ready to help. He was one of the most caring teachers I had, and my love for math grew because of him.
Who has influenced you most as an educator?
Miss Livingood influenced me the most as an educator. Senior year of college, I was her student teacher for 3rd-Grade. She taught me so much, and I'm so grateful I had such a wonderful experience!
What is the most recent book you read?
The most recent book I read is Friends and Strangers by J. Courtney Sullivan.
What is your favorite quote/saying?
My favorite quote/saying is, "Good work takes hard work!"
Miss Tuzzino is from Lancaster, Pa and holds a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree - La Salle University, Elementary and Special Education.
