The STREAM Room is a place full of toys and projects all having to do with science, technology, religion, engineering, art, and math. It’s such a special place! Kids can learn about practical things like insulators and conductors, then make something that perfectly demonstrates both an insulator and conductor by making texting gloves. Kids in 5th grade use VR headsets to learn about the world. Boys and girls in 4th and 5th grade have been practicing their sewing skills by fixing the computer lab seat cushions (a service I appreciate!) and by making pillows of their own that they can stuff and take home.
It's not just 4th and 5th grade having all of the fun in STREAM. The younger grades recently got a delivery of educational toys (one on circuitry) and even had some toys donated including the most epic collection of Legos and a huge interactive robot (which we are borrowing until the summer). His name is Alfie :) One new delivery the younger children received was a collection of three different storybooks. The children plan how they’ll solve the problems in the stories by drawing, then they create the solution with blocks and they test the solution with a physical test. Lastly, the 3D printer is beyond a fun toy that all students get to experience (even Pre-K) by making a gift as a class for their teacher. We have been utilizing it a lot this year and the kids are impressed.
You may see your children tired or grumpy early in the morning as they’re waking up, but once they’re here, their sleepy little faces turn happy and excited; ready for fun! When I was telling my dad about things I had planned for today he said, “You call that a job?!” He’s right... Sometimes it’s so fun it doesn’t feel like a job at all. So when you’re working during the day missing your little ones, know that they’re learning but they’re also smiling and having fun. Knowing this, you can enjoy your day too.
God Bless,
